I was on a trip in Brasov City,a city located near the mountains. And during my walk I noticed this person doing his morning routine on a high school football field who was positioned below my station point. That’s why my photo has an aerial aspect.
In 2012, during a party I showed to a friend of mine some photos taken with an iPhone 4S. My friend is a pro photographer. One of my photos drew his attention. It was a shot I took near an abandoned military facility I was passing by. I never thought since then that I was able to take nothing more than regular family or personal shots. This is the photo that “changed” my way of taking pictures. But only starting from 2014 I can say I started to improve my photos. Until then I was just fooling around and “burning” my photos using heavy HDR or bad over-filtering and high saturations.
No, not quite…I have to admit. From 2012 my main subject is my family (the year when my kid was born). It was easy for me because I didn’t need to ask for permission or to approach new people. I try to experiment every aspect of photography. But everything that catches my eye it can be a photo subject.
Photography has always been a passion for you?
No, it wasn’t. I wrote poems and I was a musician. So, until 2012, those were my passions. I’m a normal person who uses his camera to freeze his life moments. I don’t have photo courses taken or any official education on this field. All I know is what I learned by reading over the internet about photography or by looking to all those amazing photographers who work all over the world. I’m still learning! One question motivates me: “How my photos will look like over next 5 years from now?”
My family! My kid especially! He’s so full of life…of life’s energy…And I always tried to freeze this uniqueness on digital pixels…or on film…
This shot was taken after a heavy rain followed by a sudden Sun enlighten. I was walking by with my kid and he was attracted by all the puddles created by the heavy rain. For me it was the perfect opportunity to experiment low angle shooting.
I was on holidays with my family on a beach at the Adriatic Sea. My kid was throwing sand in the sea with an ice cream plastic cup. It was so sunny that this photo was taken on blind. I saw what I shot only later that time.
I’ve always used iPhones. I currently use an iPhone 6S Plus. My main photo editing apps are: VSCO, SKRWT, TouchRetouch, Mappr and PS Express. Rarely I use Snapseed, too. Snapseed was my main editing app until I noticed some strange behaviors in editing and saving my final product. All my photos are edited on iPhone and I do the following: perspective corrections using SKRWT, TouchRetouch for removing unwanted objects or known brands, Mappr for accurate location, PS Express for denoise and the rest of editing is made with VSCO.
If you should pick a word to tell us what is photography for you…
I’ll need two 🙂 time machine…my time machine…
I was at a wedding, but not as a photographer, and during family photo sessions I saw in the vicinity a Parkour amateur team training. So I sneak out to observe their training and to take some shots, of course.
Are you working on some specific project or genre at the moment?
I started to collect all my best moments with my kid to a project called “The Childhood Memories”.
The Catcher in the Rye – It was a hot summer day and I was exploring with my family the city’s outskirts. There’s a nice isolated wild area where we all going to escape city noise from time to time. This is another experimental shot using low angle shooting.
Thanks Daniel! And good luck with your project “The Childhood Memories”!
