How to use Picwant App – The Picwant App lets you send photos and videos to picwant.com, the website where people from the publishing, advertising and corporate world come to search and buy (license) content for their communication. The content you send is evaluated by our editors. If accepted, it may be licensed and you can earn royalties.
This is not a social platform. We want to license, not share, your content!
How to use the App:
✣ Shooting and uploading ✣
- Select Camera. Either choose to shoot an image/video or pick one from your library. Please, do not send images that you take from your social media accounts, as they are re-sized. Send from your camera roll.
a) Send the files with the highest resolution of your smartphone camera. The minimum resolution is 3000 pixels on the longest side if rectangular, or 2000 pixels if square.
b) If you use any app to post produce the images, for instance Snapseed, check the settings and be sure to save the pictures in the highest possible quality and resolution.
c) We require a minimum length of 5 seconds for video submissions.
d) We cannot accept images of live music concerts without permission from the event organizer.
e) We cannot accept closeup shots of street art without permission from the artist. When shooting street art, try capturing a wide street scene with context. For example, people walking by on the street, or the surrounding area and buildings.
f) Please note that, when you select an image from your camera roll, the photo can be displayed on the app with a lower resolution than the real one and you can see some pixels. This is just a visualization to speed up the process, but the photo will be uploaded in high res.
Example 1: you are out having fun with friends and don’t want to send the pictures straight away. No problem: take the photos as you prefer and then, when you are at home, use the app to upload the content from your camera roll.
Example 2: you are walking on the street and suddenly something happens: take a picture or video using the app and send it. The content is immediately on our servers and a news website could use it straight away.
- Add the title, location and as many relevant keywords (tags) as possible. Everything you see in the image including concepts like relax, fun, etc. Keywords are very important! They are used to find content on the website.
- We require a model release signed for all recognizable people in creative shots. When touching “next” after you have input your keywords, just press “Add model release(s)” and insert all the relevant information. Here below you can see all the steps.
If you do add model releases, you’ve to add as many signatures as the number of people included in the shot.
You can skip the model release section by pressing “Skip and send”.
- Next screen is a recap of the inserted data. You can still edit text here. If everything is ok, press “Send” and the content is on our servers. In real time. (Please note: speed of upload depends on connection quality and if you are using WiFi or 3G/4G/LTE Cellular).
